Detailed Course Description
The Certified Quality Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. The CQE understands the elements of a quality control system and the application and analysis of testing and inspection procedure. He/she has the ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and improve product quality control processes, understands and has the ability to utilize quality cost concepts and techniques, and the knowledge and ability to audit quality systems for deficiencies.
Although this course is not an introductory course and is intended for those planning to sit for the Certified Quality Engineer exam, the topics are covered in sufficient detail so that people with little advance knowledge of the concepts will be able to master them with a fair amount of practice.
Each topic is presented in a practical, easy to follow manner that emphasizes the practical application of the tools covered. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice most quantitative tools during class as well as with optional homework exercises.
This intensive course is designed to quickly and efficiently give students the information, skills, strategies, and techniques to successfully prepare to sit for the ASQ CQE certification exam offered each March and October.
*Taking this course does not constitute or imply the successful passing of the ASQ Certified Quality Engineer exam. Participants will need to study other CQE BOK topics and practice course concepts outside of class to adequately prepare for the exam.
Prerequisites
This course is designed to teach the reliability, acceptance sampling, and quantitative methods topics included in the BOK, so no prior knowledge of statistics is necessary. However, a solid understanding of basic algebra and the ability to work with algebraic formulas is required. Experience as a quality engineer is required to qualify for the exam.
Format
This is a face-to-face, instructor-led, 36 hour course.
Materials
Attendees of this course also receive a copy of the The ASQ Certified Quality Engineer Handbook, which is a source reference for the CQE exam, as well as a student workbook with ample space for class notes that can be used as a reference during the exam.
